OUR PASTOR

Camren Harris
Reverend Camren Harris is a proud native of the South Side of Columbus, Ohio. He received his call to ministry at the age of 17 and preached his initial sermon a year later under the leadership of his grandfather, the late Reverend Sutton Richards Jr., of First Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church (Columbus, OH). He faithfully served at his grandfather’s church for over five years as a youth and young adult minister, and later as an associate minister.
After relocating to Washington, D.C., Camren continued his ministry as the youth and young adult minister at Walker Memorial Baptist Church for two years, serving under the pastorate of Reverend Muyiwa Bamiduro. Upon returning home to Columbus, he began serving as an associate minister for two and a half years under the pastorate of Pastor Ron E. Elmore, during which he was ordained. On August 10, 2025, Camren was called and installed as Pastor of Mt. Period Missionary Baptist Church, alongside Senior Pastor Ron Elmore, and continues to serve the congregation with passion, purpose, and a heart for people.
Beyond the pulpit, Camren is deeply committed to public service and social advocacy, with an aim of caring for the least of these in our society. He has worked to advance equitable public policy through roles in the Ohio Legislature, on Capitol Hill, and as a Congressional Affairs political appointee in the Biden-Harris Administration. He now serves as a Government Relations and Advocacy Coordinator.
Camren is a proud graduate of Marion-Franklin High School, Capital University, and Chicago Theological Seminary, where he is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree focusing on public theology and prophetic preaching. He is the husband of Allyssa and a proud father to their two children.
